Studied at the Faculty of History and Philology of the University of Tirana graduated in 1971. The next stage of his education included history and archeology - postgraduate studies in archeology were held in Rome and Athens. After graduation he worked at the Archaeological Museum in Durrës, as well as in the Department of Ancient and Medieval Art of the Albanian Academy of Sciences. He also worked as an editor in Drit's writing.
Zeqo wrote a number of monographs and articles devoted to Albania's history and culture, and is also a well-known poet in Albania who has published his works since the seventies. His poems were translated into 11 languages.
In 1991, he served as Minister for Culture, Youth and Sports in the government, headed by Fatos Nano. He also served as director of the National History Museum in Tirana. Poetry Polish translation
