Tadeusz Joteyko
Tadeusz Joteyko (born April 1, 1872 in Czujujki near Kiev, died August 20, 1932 in Cieszyn) is a Polish composer, conductor of choirs and teacher. Brother Józefa Joteyko.
Violin lessons have been around since the age of 12. Between 1889 and 1891 he studied at the Conservatoire in Brussels, and in 1891-1895 at the Musical Institute in Warsaw, where he was a student of Zygmunt Noskowski (composition) and Aleksander Cicka (cello); During his studies he worked as a conductor of choirs. In 1897 he became conductor of the Lutheran singing company in Radom. In the years 1900-1902 he was a cellist at the Teatr Wielki in Warsaw, since 1902 conductor of the music society in Lodz and then in Kalisz. In 1914 he settled permanently in Warsaw, where he became a professor of conservatory. He performed in Warsaw on numerous concerts as conductor of choral ensembles, and during the First World War he was also conductor of the Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra. He was active in popularizing music: he organized school concerts, gave lectures on music, wrote books and articles. He was a co-founder and then president of the Friends of Art Association, where he organized and conducted a number of concerts devoted to contemporary Polish music. In the last year of his life he was the vice president and treasurer of the Polish Composers' Association.
