Web syndication is a phenomenon in which a certain portion of a website is shared with another site. In general, web syndication refers to the creation of web feeds from sites that provide a summary of recently added content (such as news or forum posts).

Web syndication spread in 2001 thanks to the Miniclip website, which provides free online games. Today many web sites use web syndication. Millions of online newspapers, commercial websites, and blogs now publish headlines for their latest news, product offers, or blog posts in the news feed format.

This syndication receives both the information page and the page that uses it and displays it. The second page effectively adds content to its content, making it more attractive to users. For a syndication syndication site, it becomes a free ad on multiple platforms at the same time that generates new traffic on the page.

Although web syndication could be any protocol transported via HTTP, for example HTML, XML is most commonly used for this purpose. The two most popular forms of web syndication are RSS and Atom.
