Angitia

Angitia is also called Anguitia - the goddess of Ossian origin in Roman mythology. Her name is interpreted as coming from Latin. anguis. She was a goddess combined with snakes: according to mythology the goddess had power over them and she could cure their bites. Hence Angitia was also considered a goddess-healer. For some sources Angitia was considered to be identical to Medea: she was to come with Jason to Italy and teach local peoples the magic of healing. The name of the goddess appears on several inscriptions, including one in the plural (Angitiae). Temple of Angita was on Lake Fucinus. This place is called Silva Angitia. Bibliography
