Archibald Macallum


Archibald Macallum Archibald Byron Macallum (born 1858 in Belmont, 1934) is a Canadian biochemist, founder of the National Research Council of Canada.

Since 1886 he taught at the University of Toronto. In 1888 he earned his Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University. In 1889 he graduated in medicine. Since 1901 a member of the Canadian Royal Society, since 1906 the Royal Society. Lecturer at the University of Toronto, later took over the faculty of biochemistry at McGill University. Three years spent trying to set up the National Research Council of Canada; His actions were successful. He played a key role in the creation of the Ontario Library Associaton.
