Carl Auer von Welsbach (born 1 September 1858 in Vienna, 4 August 1929 in Mölbling) is an Austrian chemist and professor at the University of Vienna.
He conducted research on rare earths. In 1885 he divided the dove into elements of praseodymium and neodymium.
In 1905, the ytter was divided into the proper elements of the iterator and the cash register (now lutet). He discovered the luminescence of cerium compounds and other lanthanides at high temperatures.
The so-called. Auer shirts with thorium dioxide, ThO2 (99%), and cerium dioxide, CeO2 (1%), produce intense white light in the gas flame. Authoritative control (person):
