David Preston

David Preston is a Canadian economist and diplomat, former Canadian ambassador to Poland.

He graduated from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. In 1972 he entered the diplomatic service. He worked in Jakarta, Accra and Canberra. At headquarters in Ottawa he served Director of Economic Relations with Developing Countries and Director of Cross-Border Relations with the United States.

Between 1999 and 2002 he was a high commissioner in Bangladesh. He was responsible for relations with East European countries in 2002-2003, and in 2003 he became General Manager for Central, Eastern and Southern Europe. Since 2006 he has been working at an office in Warsaw. In 2009, he was replaced by Ambassador Daniel Costello.
