From the cottage

"From the cottage" - a collection of 40 sonnets by Jan Kasprowicz written in a prison in Wroclaw (imprisoned for participation in socialist, secret youth organizations) in 1887. The sonnets were printed in "Głos" in 1888. They were also published in Lviv in 1888 in the collection "Poetry". The poems belong to the naturalistic phase of the poet's work, and the subject is social (including class) and moral issues. The songs were written in ten syllables with the middle syllable after the fourth syllable. Lucylla Pszczołowska indicates that some of them have a consistent anaphythmic rhythm.
