James Forman


James Forman (born October 4, 1928 in Chicago, died January 10, 2005 in Washington, DC) is an American human rights activist.

He served in the army during the Korean War. As an African American he experienced racist persecution on the part of the police. At Chicago, he was the student movement leader, and in 1964-1966 he was the secretary of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. In 1963 he was one of the principal organizers of the March of Washington.

He also worked for the rights of the unemployed. In 1980 he graduated from Cornell University, graduating in 1960. He also defended his doctorate. He was the author of many publications, including: Authoritative control (person):
