Luis da Cunha Manuel
Luis da Cunha Manuel (born 1703, died 1775) is a Portuguese politician.
He was one of those Portuguese politicians who made sure that the Jesuits were expelled from Portugal (1762). Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo, the Marquis de Pombal, was watching over his political career. From May 6, 1756 to 1775, he served as Secretario de Estado dos Negócios Estrangeiros e da Guerra (Secretary of State for Foreign and War Affairs). In the years 1762-1765 he reformed the army, supplying it with modern artillery. Bibliography
