Mugodzhar Hills


Mugodzhar Hills Mugodjary - low mountain range in Kazakhstan. It is the southern extension of the Urals.

They run from north to south, their length is about 450 km, lie south of the Gubernian Mountains. The highest point is the Great Boktybaj (657 m n.p.m.). They consist of two parallel ridges surrounding the Alaskan Basin. Built of gneisses, quartzite, crystalline slate, diabase, granite, coal slate, sandstone and conglomerate. Mountains covered with steppe. There are deposits of hard coal, nickel, copper and mineral building materials. Bibliography
