Library of Classics of Philosophy - a unique world-wide publishing series created in 1952 within the framework of the State Academic Publishers aiming at making Polish philosophical literature available to the Polish reader - both in the field of general philosophy and in Polish philosophy.
In the years of the People's Republic of Poland, the series was generously subsidized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education at the time - several new volumes appeared every year, with the number of thousands of copies being reprinted. Taking into account the selection of titles that appeared in the first series of the series, it is necessary to note the attempts to open up to the tradition of Enlightenment (especially French and German), historically practically absent in Polish spiritual culture.
