August Okołowicz
August Adolf Okołowicz (born 1834 or 1835 in Vierzon in France, died after 1880, probably in Belgium) - general of the Paris Commune.
He studied in France at the Batik school, where he was probably removed. From 1854 he fought in the Crimean War. Then he stayed in Switzerland. In 1870, at the request of Jaroslaw Dąbrowski (in connection with plans to create the Polish Legion), he arrived in France. As an officer of the Vogez army he fought in the Franco-Prussian war of 1870-1871. In March 1871 he arrived in Paris, where he was appointed Colonel of the Commune. He initially commanded the 90th Battalion, and from 7th to 27th April he was commander of the Asnieres. At that time he was nominated generalska. He was taken prisoner at the hospital and managed to escape to Belgium. He was probably there to make a living by buying and renovating carpets. Bibliography
