Godfryd II Ferréol

Godfrey II, known as Ferréol (died 30 April 1043/1045), Earl Gâtinais, oldest son of Huguon du Perche and Beatrice of Mâcon.

Godfrey appears in the document of Fulk, Bishop of Paris, 26 May 1028, where he is listed as heir of Gâtinais County. He assumed it after the death of his half-brother, Aubri (the son of Godfrey's mother from his first marriage), in 1028 or 1030. The nickname Ferréol appears only in the chronicle of the twelfth century, it is unknown whether he was so defined in life. p> The wife of Godfrey was from 1035 Ermengard (d. March 18, 1076), daughter of Fulk III of Black, Count of Andegavenia, and Hildegard of Sundgau. Godfrey had two sons and a daughter with her:

Thanks to the marriage of Godfrey with Ermengarda, his sons became the rulers of Anjou, one of the most powerful French counties. Pravitnuk Godfrey, Henry II Plantagenet, reached in 1154 for the English crown. Bibliography
