Jerzy Stępień (politician)


Jerzy Stępień (born 2 October 1955 in Golub-Dobrzyn) is a Polish politician and self-governor, and vice-president of the city from 2002 to 2014. Curriculum vitae

He graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw. Adam Mickiewicz. From 1995 to 1997 he worked in the administration of the Agricultural School Complex in Grzybno and the Housing Cooperative in Śrem. In the years 1994-1998 he was the chairman of the town council and the municipality of Śrem.

Since 1992 he belonged to the Democratic Union, then became a member of the Freedom Union. After the recommendation of the party, after the appointment of the government of Jerzy Buzek, he took over the post of vice-governor of Poznań. In the municipal elections in 1998 he obtained the mandate of a councilor of the Wielkopolska Sejmik. He resigned shortly for the position of vice-governor of Wielkopolska, which he held until the beginning of 2002. In the parliamentary elections in 2001 he ran for the Sejm on the UW list, which did not get the mandate.

In 2002, he assumed the position of deputy mayor of Poznań. In the same year he joined the Civic Platform. In 2009 he was unsuccessful on the OP list in the European Parliament elections. In 2014, he ended his function as Vice President.
