Mallampati scale

Mallampati score (Mallampati classification) - an anesthesia applied in an anesthetized four-stage scale that determines the difficulty of tracheal intubation due to anatomical structure of the oral cavity.

On the scale, the relationship between the tongue, the throat and the soft palate is taken into consideration. A high (4) degree on the Mallampati scale means that intubation can be impeded. The scale was introduced by S. Rao Mallampati et al. In 1985. The scale is as follows: Bibliography
