Mozilla Add-ons
Mozilla Add-ons, formerly Mozilla Update, a Mozilla-based add-on for Mozilla, including Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Thunderbird, SeaMonkey (formerly Mozilla Suite), and Mozilla Sunbird. Add-ons include extensions, themes, dictionaries, search engine plugins, and plugins.
This is the official Mozilla download site, and Mozilla software includes links to Mozilla Add-ons, but add-ons can also be installed from other web pages.
Mozilla Add-ons is also informally known as AMO or a.m.o (URL shortcut). Formerly called UMO from the URL, which was update.mozilla.org.
The page has undergone several changes since it started.
Unlike mozdev.org, which offers free hosting for Mozilla-related projects, this site is targeted at end users, not software developers.
In February 2008, over 4,600 extensions and over 650 themes were available on the site. On January 30, 2008, it was announced that the add-ons had been downloaded from Mozilla Add-ons more than 600 million times, and every day more than 100 million installed add-ons check for updates.
One of the most important reasons why Firefox has gained popularity on the Internet is to expand the capabilities of the browser by adding plugins and add-ons. Add-ons are small in size - from 5 kB to 13 MB for the largest, but usually do not exceed 500 kB - and have a big impact on how people use the browser to use the Internet. Some of the most popular add-ons (order is not significant) are: Download Statusbar, AdBlock, Adblock Plus, McAfee SiteAdvisor, IE Tab, FasterFox, VideoDownloader, ChatZilla, FoxyTunes, Map + and many more.
The Mozilla Add-ons website is available. in English, Albanian, Basque, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mongolian, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Slovak and Spanish.
