Common yew
The Cisowy Jar Nature Reserve was established in 1959 [1] in the area of the Olecko Forest District within the Olecko Blacksmiths. Area of 10,68 ha. It was created for the protection of the marginal position of the yew (Taxus baccata) lying in half. - the eastern boundary of its range. It is the richest, this species of concentration in Mazury. There are three types of habitat in the reserve: fresh mixed forest - 0.30 ha - 2.8%, fresh forest - 9.95 ha - 93.4%, humid forest - 0.40 ha - 3.8 % contain in their stands mainly - spruce (72%) linden (14%), birch (1%) aged 60 to 90 years. The reserve stands are severely distorted because 80 years ago. A complete framework was made. At present, conservation targets throughout the reserve are planned to be only available for sanitary and maintenance cuts. Under the cover of the stand grows yew. In 1965, specimens were found in the reserve and in the immediate vicinity of its borders. Most are very small, 10-15 cm high.
