The Swan River is only about a 70-mile stretch from the Wooroloo Brook to the ocean, while its higher run is called the Avon. The source of the river is located on the West Australian Highland, and descends to the Indian Ocean near Fremantle. The name is derived from numerous black swans inhabiting its banks.
