Central cord syndrome - a neurological syndrome caused by damage to the central part of the spinal cord. On the one hand, the weakened or abated pain and temperature on the level of the injured core segments are associated with reduced modalities in the spinal cord of the hind limb (described as split sensory disturbances).
In advanced injury, frontal horn cells (lower motor neuron) and cortical (upper motor neuron syndrome with spastic paraplegia) may occur.
The most common causes are multiple sclerosis, core cyst and intracranial tumors.
