Ludwik Broekere


Ludwik Broekere (born August 17, 1867 in Kamień near Żerkowa, May 23, 1948 in Katowice), Polish pianist and conductor, music teacher.

He was the son of Władysław (landowner) and Valery of Rembowski. He studied at the Maria Magdalena Gymnasium in Poznań (he graduated in 1884), then studied at the Higher Music School in Berlin and the Conservatoire in Paris. From 1892 he worked as a music teacher in Poznań (with a break in Paris), in 1902 he opened a private piano school; From 1906 he ran a private music conservatoire and a seminar for music teachers.

Broekery's school was a significant center of cultural and social life in Poznan. The income from public performances of pupils was often used for charity purposes. The school, which in 1920 contributed to the creation of the State Conservatory of Music, has met many well-known piano graduates (eg Gertruda Konatkowska).

Broekere has been a member of the jury of many composition competitions, publishing music reviews, and touring. From 1902 to 1907 he was the conductor of the Poznan female choir "Lutnia". He participated in the creation of the Poznań State Conservatoire and until 1933 he conducted a piano class. He was married to Marta Pierson (from 1898), son of Rene (born 1903).
