Perikardiocenteza
Pericardiocentesis - a procedure to evacuate the fluid in the pericardial sac by puncturing and decolourising it, thereby reducing the pericardial pressure. The indication for the procedure is greater than 20 mm in thickness of the fluid layer in the pericardial sac (at the diastolic) seen in the echocardiography. Pericardiocentesis is a life-saving treatment for patients with cardiac tamponade. The only exception is tamponade due to aortic dissection in which pericardiocentesis is contraindicated and urgent cardiac surgery is required. Bibliography
