USS Carola IV (SP-812)


USS Carola IV - United States Navy patrol ship. Built in 1885 in Culzian (Scotland) as a steamboat. In June 1917, when it was owned by Leonard Richards of New York, purchased by the US Navy for service during World War I. He entered service in early July, crossed the Atlantic to Brest in the same month and in August, visited Newfoundland and the Azores. After a brief period of patrol service near the French coast, in October 1917, "Carola IV" was designated as unseaworthy and moved to port service as a barracks unit. He served until the end of the war and for another year. Withdrew from service in late December 1919 and sold in Brest. Bibliography
