Zdzisław Pidek
Zdzisław Pidek (born 16 May 1954 in Bychawa, died 12 April 2006 in Gdansk) - Polish sculptor, professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. Curriculum vitae
He graduated from the National High School of Fine Arts in Nałęczów. He studied at the Faculty of Sculpture, State Higher School of Fine Arts in Gdańsk; diploma in the workshop of professor Franciszek Duszeńka. Since 1980 lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk; where he has been leading the Sculpture Foundation for the Faculty of Painting and Graphic Arts since 1990. Since 1996 he has been the Head of the Art Design Department of the Sculpture Faculty.
Participation in about 20 exhibitions, including: 1995 International contest for concepts of Polish war cemeteries in Katyn, Miednoje and Kharkov, Warsaw - realization prize (with the team). In 1997, an international competition to commemorate the former Nazi death camp in Bełżec - a realization prize (with the team).
In 2004, Zdzisław Pidek together with Andrzej Sołyga and Marcin Roszczyk received the Special Award in the SARP Year of the 2004 prize for the foundation of the monument in the former Nazi death camp in Bełżec.
Completed: 2000 Polish War Cemeteries in Katyn (Polish War Cemetery in Katyn), Miednoje (Polish War Cemetery in Miednoje) and Kharkov (Cemetery of the Victim of Totalitarianism in Kharkov). 2001 Holocaust Memorial in Bełżec (under construction). He exhibited his works at many individual and collective exhibitions.
