Adam z Marsh
Adam of Marsh, Adam de Marisco (November 18, 1259 in Lincoln) - Franciscan theologian.
He studied at Oxford. In 1233 he entered the Franciscan Order. He was a friend of Robert Grosseteste. In 1245 he accompanied him to the synagogue in Lyon. When he was offered a chair by Alexander of Hales, he did not accept her. He was the first Franciscan lecturer in Oxford in 1247-1249 or 1248-1250.
A collection of Adam's letters from Marsh was published by J. Brewer in the Franciscan Monument I series (Londinum 1858). It is an important historical source for the times of Adam of Marsh, especially for knowledge about the environment of scholars. Also, his comments on the Song of Songs and the Letter to the Hebrews are also known. Bibliography Authoritative control (person):
