Karol Chmiel (teacher)


Karol Chmiel (born June 5, 1891 in Cierlicko, died in 1954 in Cieszyn) - Polish teacher, educational activist and librarian.

Since 1910 he taught in the Old Town near Frysztat, where he organized a library, and from 1920 in Cieszyn. He has been working as a library lecturer at the School Board's Head Office since 1925.

During World War II interned in Tornyos Nadaska, he organized a camp library there and wrote "Our Life". After the war, he returned to Cieszyn Silesia, where he was involved in organizing school and general libraries. From 1946 he was the head of the District Public Library in Cieszyn. Bibliography
