Sodium thioglycolate medium - liquid medium used in microbiology for the cultivation of anaerobic bacteria, especially spores of the genus Clostridium.
CompositionThe medium consists of distilled water, agar, yeast extract, cystine and casein hydrolyzate. Sodium thioglycolate is responsible for reducing the redox potential and enabling anaerobic survival, while rezazurin (fresh) allows the assessment of this potential. The pH of the substrate is 7.1.
It is necessary to store the media in a dark place. Bibliography
