Edmund Zechenter


Edmund Zechenter (born October 20, 1867 in Rzeszów, died June 6, 1933 in Krakow) is a journalist, poet, novelist. Edmund's parents were Judge Wincenty Zechenter and Amalia Bartmiński. Witold Zechenter's father, grandfather of Elżbieta Zechenter-Spławińska. He attended school in Cracow. After graduation he started working as a journalist in the New Reform (1900-1903), Polish Post (1902-03, 1905-14), Our Country (1906), Time (1904-12,1914-15), Roli (1908, 1911- 12), Museionie (1912), Głos Narodu (1915-20). He belonged to the Academic Reading Association and to the co-founders of the Syndicate of Journalists in Cracow (1912).

He debuted as a storyteller in The Literary Fable (1882), was a literary and theatrical reviewer. He was collecting folk customs, he knew the village from frequent trips. In the twenties he was a press officer of the Cracow Region. He died in Cracow, buried in the Rakowicki Cemetery. Book publications
