Filippo Boncompagni
Filippo Boncompagni (born 7 September 1548 in Bologna - died 9 June 1586 in Rome) is an Italian cardinal. Curriculum vitae
He was born in Bologna and studied law at a local university. He was the nephew of Pope Gregory XIII, who in 1572 appointed him cardinal San Sisto and superintendent general of the Holy See. The great penitentiary (1579-86) and prefect of St. Congregation of the Council of Trent (1580-86). He participated in the conclave of 1585, led by a group of cardinals nominated by his uncle. New Pope Sixtus V dismissed him as general superintendent, entrusting her to her relative, Alessandro Peretti de Montalto. He died in Rome and was buried in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, which he was an archipelago since 1581. Bibliography
