The Partizan of Lusatia
Narodny Partyzan Łužica (NPŁ) - Founded on December 13, 1946 in the Radwor by a group of young Lusatian nationalists, a guerrilla organization. Its members were teachers who met at the Institute of Teachers in Radwor: Hinc Šewc, Achim Brankačk, Jan Rawp and Jan Wukaš. Initially, the organization ran propaganda campaigns aimed at equalizing the Sorbs in Germany. In June 1946, they took part in preparations for a popular referendum in Saxony. They distributed their own leaflets and put up posters in the Sorbian settlements. Initially, members of the group prepared their own materials. But soon some of them were printed in the Sorbian printing press in Rumburk. NEL members demanded equality of the Sorbian population in terms of education, the official language and the inscriptions in public places. As a result of the open hostility towards these demands, the Germans radicalized their claims. They demanded the separation of Lusatia from Germany and the "rejection of the German yoke". In one of the leaflets they announced the liberation by guerrilla methods. This resulted in the repression of the German secret police and the Soviet military administration. The organization was dissolved and its participants were deported from Lusatia. Literature
