Albierz

Albierz (Alberus) (died in 1283) - Bishop of Wloclawek (Kujawsko-Pomorskie).

There was not much information about him. He came from the Nieszlachec family, probably bourgeois. The first mention of him, they talk about Albierz as a chaplain of the Bishop of Włocławek Michal. Around 1250 he became an archdiocese. From 1258 he was the Dean of Wloclawek. The Bishop of Wloclawek was in 1275.

The bishopric of Wloclawek was also included in the Pomeranian Pomerania. Hence Albierz took part in the settlement of border disputes between Pomeranian prince Mściwoj II (Mestwin II) and Teutonic Knights. At the same time he assured the Bishopric of Wloclawek a number of new princely assignments in the Archdiocese of Pomeranian Bishopric. Kuyavian-Pomeranian Bishops also had estates in the Chełmno land belonging to the Order. Albierz managed to conclude an agreement with the Teutonic Knights on the use of the bishopric from these possessions. Albierz died in December 1283. He was buried in the Wloclawek cathedral or in the Dominican church in Brześć Kujawski. Bibliography
