Bjambyn Rinczen

Bjambyn Rinchen (born 1905, d. 1977) - a Mongolian writer, ethnographer, historian, linguist and translator, also translated works by Polish literature into Mongolian.

Rinchen studied in the 1920s in Leningrad and his Mongolian doctorate in 1956 in Hungary. He was a member of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences. His scientific work was translated into Polish by the Lublin Studies on Lamatsky Dance Masks (1970).

He belonged to the most important contemporary writers of his country. He made his debut in 1923 in the literary press, and his poetry, novels, essays and stories had a significant influence on the development of Mongolian literature. In 1935 he became the editor of the newspaper "Ünen", and also co-authored literary magazines.

He translated 80 works of 25 writers from 15 countries into Mongolian. Among the most important translations are the poems selected by Adam Mickiewicz (1955), Ashes and Diamonds by Jerzy Andrzejewski (1978), Rainbow by Wanda Wasilewska (1970) and New Love by Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz. He began work on the translation of Pan Tadeusz. He had a strong attachment to Kraszewski's works, which influenced his own historical writing.
