Concentration of authority - formal or informal gathering of competent authority at a given level of a political or state organization by a single body.

Concentration is also the focus of decision-making in the hands of central authorities. Concentration decreases the number of indirect decisions (decision-making moves up) and decreases the number of decision-makers.

Concentration is linked to centralization and relates to the relationship between administrations. Excessive concentration makes it difficult to gain information about the situation in the field, deprives the self-reliance and responsibility of lower institutions, which in emergency situations with difficult communication causes paralysis.

With excessive concentration, the overriding position of a single central authority if it is not balanced by other authorities and is not subject to their control, distorts the principle of the balance of the political system and is contrary to the democratic principle of the division of political and state power.
