Stephen Groombridge Stephen Groombridge (born January 7, 1755 in Goudhurst, England, died March 30, 1832 in Blackheath, London) is an English astronomer who created the catalog of stars named after him.

Observations began in 1806 in London. A Catalog of Circumpolar Stars, containing descriptions of 4243 stars with brightnesses greater than 9 placed at 50 ° from the north pole of the sky, was published in 1838 after the astronomer edited by Sir G. Airy. In 1812 he became a member of the Royal Society, and eight years later he was one of the founding members of the Astronomical Society of London.
