Industrial Union of Donbass
The Industrial Union of Donbass (Ukraine) is one of the largest corporations of Ukraine, which holds stockpiles of more than 40 industrial enterprises in Ukraine (Donetsk, Lugansk and Dnipropetrovsk), Hungary and Poland.
ISD was founded in December 1995. The largest shareholders of the corporation are Serhiy Taruta and Vitaliy Hajduk. The first corporate capital was obtained by supplying gas to companies in the Donetsk region in the mid-1990s. At that time, the ISD operated using the contributions of its co-owner Vitaly Hajduk, who was the deputy of the Donetsk governor.
The foundations of the corporation are the companies of black metallurgy and the construction of heavy machinery. The company's business is focused on the production of steel, steel pipes, coke, black metallurgy and coke. The corporation is also an important trader in the metal, coal and natural gas markets.
The largest companies of the company are Altaïva Steelworks, Alchevský Koktsochsky Complex, Dnepropetrovsk Steelworks, Dunaferr Steelworks, Częstochowa Steelworks, Gdansk Shipyard.
ISD produces 9.2 million tons of steel annually. In 2005, corporate income was $ 4.5 billion, although net income was $ 390 million. The ISD is Donetsk.
In early 2010, the Industrial Donbass Union was bought by the Russian companies Evraz Group and Metalloinvest.
