Ralph Woodford
Sir Ralph Woodford Baronet Carleby (born 1791) is a British diplomat.
In the sixties he became a representative of Great Britain in Hamburg. In 1772-1779 Woodford was a British ambassador in Denmark. Previously, he was a resident of Great Britain in Hanseatic cities.
Wladyslaw Czaplinski gives an ambassador's speech on the Danish Minister Ove Guldberg; "... He is a scholar and has written excellent universal history, but knows the world and the affairs of the state from books ..."
In 1785, he was sent (in the rank of trade commissioner) to negotiate a trade treaty with Spain. Bibliography
