Sherbro Island or Bonthe Island is an island in the Atlantic Ocean on the southwestern coast of Sierra Leone about 370 km. From the mainland it is separated by the Sherbro River and the Sherbro River. The main town on the island is Bonthe.

The island is a hatchery of marine turtles and leopard turtles. There are also over 100 kilometers of tropical beaches that make the Sierra Leone Ministry of Tourism and Development work to promote the region as a tourist destination.

In the past, the island served the British as a place of slave transfer. Currently, the main sectors of the economy are rice cultivation and fisheries. The island is home to some 9700 people (as of 2006).
