Courvoisier Syndrome, a syndrome of Courvoisier - a clinical symptom typical of advanced pancreatic-duodenal (usually pancreatic or bile ductal carcinoma, as well as duodenal and vater papillae) associated with biliary closure by invasive or oppressive tumors. It is characterized by a significantly enlarged, palpable and non-painful gall bladder.

The coexistence of palpable vesicles and jaundice is not present in gall bladder stones, which allows for the pre-differentiation of these two cases. However, jaundice appears only when they enter the common bile duct, and this occurs at a later stage of the disease in which the bubble has thickened walls because of inflammation, It is shrunk and does not stretch under increased bile pressure.

The name of the honor is honored by his discoverer, the Swiss surgeon Ludwig Georg Courvoisier.
