Jean Lafitte

Illustration depicting the pirate Jean Lafitte, Louisiana governor Charles Charles Cole Claiborne and General Andrew Jackson discussing New Orleans' defense plans against the British invasion at the end of 1814.

Jean Lafitte is a nineteenth-century pirate and corsair, primarily in the Gulf of Mexico region. Named after the historic Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, Jean Lafitte in Louisiana, and the 1772 Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop on Bourbon Street in New Orleans.
