Parliamentary elections in Kuwait in 2008


The 2008 parliamentary elections in Kuwait took place on 17 May. It was an early election, after March's emir Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah dissolved parliament. 274 candidates, including 27 women, applied for seats in the 50-person Kuwait National Unitary Assembly - National Assembly. Results

The winner of the election was the conservative Muslims who won 24 out of 50 possible seats. Other places will be occupied by the tribal leaders, also going for the opposite major changes in Kuwait's economic policy.
