A classic science fiction novel about alien invasion on Earth that captures the minds of the people. A brave group of American agents is fighting them. The book was seen as an allegory on possible USSR aggression in the US.

Based on the novel, a movie with the same title was made. On several occasions, films were also inspired by the novel, such as The Brain Eaters in 1958, or one of the Star Trek episodes.
