Niccolò Scolari


Niccolò Scolari (d. 1200) - Italian cardinal. He came from Rome and was the nephew of Pope Clement III.

For many years (until 1193) he was the administrator of the Benedictine San Lorenzo church in Kapua. At the consortium in 1190 his uncle Clement III appointed him a cardinal. Between October 23 and December 19, 1190 he signed the papal bulls as the deacon of the Holy Roman Church, February 17, 1191 as the deacon of S. Lucia in Silice, and between May 15, 1191 and August 4, 1200 as deacon of Santa Maria in Cosmedin. He participated in the papal election of 1191 and the Elections of 1198. During the first two years of the pontificate of Innocent III he acted as an auditor in the papal curia. He died between August and December 1200. Bibliography
