The Islamic Salvation Army (AIS), Armé Islamique du Salut, the armed wing of the Islamic Front for Salvation, was active in 1993-1999.

The group was formed in 1993 and since then has been conducting an armed campaign against the government. The Islamic Salvation Army was less radical and more likely to compromise with the government than the Islamic Armed Group. On October 1, 1997, the Salvation Army announced a unilateral ceasefire. This led to intensified struggles between the organization and the competitive Islamic Armed Group that recognized the Islamic Salvation Army as traitors. In January 2000, the amnesty was announced by President Abd al-Aziz Buteflica. The amnesty was used by 2,000 partisans, not including Islamists responsible for acts of terrorism, purges or rape.
