Luigi Carnera
Luigi Carnera (born April 14, 1875 in Trieste, July 30, 1962 in Florence) is an Italian astronomer.
At the beginning of his career, he worked as an assistant to Max Wolf at the Landessternwarte Heidelberg-Königstuhl in Heidelberg, where he discovered asteroids. In the years 1901-1902 he discovered 16 asteroids - 13 alone and 3 together with Max Wolf. He worked in Germany, Italy and Argentina.
Since 1919 he was director of the Astronomical Observatory in Trieste. In 1932 he became director of the Capodimonte Astronomical Observatory in Naples.
In recognition of his work, one of the asteroids was named (39653) Carnera Authoritative control (person):
