precursors. In the centenary of the birth of professional movement of Polish teachers in Cieszyn Silesia - a popular science-paper by Leon Miękina published in 1988. The author presents the development of Polish education in Cieszyn Silesia from the beginning to 1918. The book consists of an introduction, six chapters, a messenger, a bibliography and a chronological overview of the most important events in the history of the Cieszyn region entitled Facts and people.

The book was the ninety-sixth edition published by the Cieszyn Motherland. The reviewer was Kazimierz Szczurek.

Precursors are the only compact study devoted to Polish education in Cieszyn Silesia in the years 1848-1918.

The poem is also known under the title "Confession of the Polish Child" or "Catechism of a Young Pole". It starts with the words "Who are you? "Little Pole". His simple form, referring to children's calculations, made him the simplest form of patriotic education of the youngest generation. The work consists of basic questions and answers about the identity features of a young Pole. It made it easier to memorize national characters and symbols.
