Heikki Savolainen


Heikki Savolainen (1932) Heikki Ilmari Savolainen (born 28 September 1907 in Joensuu, died 29 November 1997 in Kajaani), Finnish gymnast. Multiple Olympic medalist.

At the Games he debuted in Amsterdam in 1928, the last time he performed in Helsinki 24 years later. Each time, during the five starts, he won medals (nine in total). The most successful was in 1948 in London, when he won 2 gold medals. Four years later, on behalf of the athletes, he made an oath at the opening ceremony.

In 1939 he graduated in medicine. In 2004 he was honored at the Hall of Fame Gymnastics. Olympic Games Amsterdam 1928 Los Angeles 1932 Berlin 1936 London 1948 Helsinki 1952
