Philip von Hutten


Philip von Hutten Philip von Hutten (born December 18, 1505, died 17 May 1546 in El Tocuyo, Venezuela) is a German conquistador, governor of Venezuela since 1541, explorer and explorer of the Amazon River, a tributary of the Welser bank.

Philip von Hutten was the deputy and successor of Georg Hohermuth, the governor of Venezuela. He also participated in the expedition to Eldorado. In 1541 he organized a new expedition in search of a legendary land. Hutten reached the Guiana Highland, where he rescued the Indians. He then headed for the Amazonian Lowlands. In 1545 he discovered the Putomajo River lying 50 km from Napa. Having encountered strong, hostile troops, the Indians returned to the city of Coro, where he was killed by Spaniards.
