Amero - the currency of the hypothetical monetary union of North America - Canada, Mexico and the United States. The concept is modeled on the common currency of the European Union - the euro. Although officially none of these countries have confirmed their willingness to introduce the currency, their conspiracy theorists have already been working on it. History

The originator of the currency was the Mexican economist, Francisco Gil-Diaz. Canadian Herbert G. Grubel published the book The Case for the Amero in 1999 (the same as the euro).
