Gordon Dobson
Gordon Miller Bourne Dobson (born 25 February 1889, March 11, 1976) is a British physicist and meteorologist, member of the Royal Society of London. He carried out important ozone research.
During the meteorological study, he noted that the temperature profile of the tropopause was not constant as originally thought. In fact, as has been shown, this is an area where the temperature is rapidly rising. According to his theory, this is due to the ultraviolet radiation that heats up the ozone layer. He developed the Dobson Spectrophotometer, the first instrument for measuring ozone in the atmosphere.
