Amursana (born 1722, died in 1757) - Prince of Mongolian Ojrates. In 1754, he initiated the rebellion of the Ojrates (in the jungle) and the Mongols of western Mongolia against the people of Mongolia. He became commander of the uprising and until 1757 he led intensive battles, achieving transient significant successes, which provided him with great publicity among the nomads. After the defeat of the insurgents and the retaliatory slaughter of the Chinese population by the Chinese army, he went to Russia where he was sheltered in spite of the demands of the Chinese authorities, who cared for the extradition of Amursana. Soon he died there for smallpox.

The cult of Amursana, as the leader of the anti-Chinese movement, remained in Mongolia until independence. Numerous Mongol commanders fighting in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries with China, such as Dama Lama, used this cult for propaganda purposes, claiming to be reincarnation of this figure.
